US RaceTronics to Compete in 2016 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North American Series
Monrovia, California (March 1, 2016) - Shane Seneviratne, former race team director for O'Gara Motorsport has announced his participation in the 2016 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North American Series, as the team owner of US RaceTronics (USRT).
USRT was originally founded in 2005 by Seneviratne to compete in the Atlantic Championship. The team has a strong history of success amassing an impressive record of 21 podiums, 7 poles, 5 race wins, and finishing 3rd overall in the 2009 Atlantic Championship standings. With the end of the Atlantic Championship Series, Shane semi-retired from racing and turned his focus to his core business, Sir Speedy of Monrovia; a printing and marketing company based in Monrovia, CA.
In 2015, Seneviratne fully returned to the sport, after receiving an invitation from entrepreneur and gentleman driver, Tom O'Gara, to manage O'Gara Motorsport entries in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo North American Series. The team won the season opener at Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway with Pro driver Richard Antinucci. Consistent performances throughout the 2015 season led to O'Gara Motorsport winning the Team Championship, Dealership Championship, Pro Championship with driver Richard Antinucci, and Amateur Championship with Ryan Ockey. Amateur driver Ryan Ockey also won the 2015 Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo World Championship.
"I am very thankful for the opportunity Tom O'Gara presented to me. It reignited my passion for racing and I made many new friends in the process. Our success last season in the Super Trofeo North American Series was a powerful testament to what can be accomplished when you assemble a knowledgeable, hardworking and highly focused team. We set lofty goals at the start of the season, and by the end we had greatly exceed our own expectations. I am proud to have been entrusted with such a world class program, and I am grateful to Tom for all we achieved together.
"As I look to the future, I see a bright horizon for a newly emerged and energized US RaceTronics sports car team. I have a strong core staff which is transitioning with me, and we are focused on having another great season in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Series."
